LIGHTNING PROTECTION 1

The Ministry of Environment and Tourism[1] recently advised of the possibility of storms for this year’s rainy season. Storms are associated with lightning and thunderstorms which can be detrimental to your solar system. Direct and indirect lightning strikes can cause serious damage specifically to the solar panels and inverters….. and also to appliances. A lot of inverters were damaged in the previous season from lightning related issues.
Most manufacturers and suppliers will not give warranty for damage that is caused by lightning (direct or indirect). Most insurance companies will provide some cover if the solar system has protection against lightning. But how then do you protect your solar system from lightning?? Watch the space for more info
